A classic Kenyan AA from Gititu Factory in Kiambu, roasted light for filter. Expect a clean, high-toned cup with rhubarb, grapefruit and lemonade brightness, supported by refined black-tea aromatics. Crisp and refreshing on batch brew; precise and expressive as pour-over.
Gititu is one of Kiambu’s oldest and most transparent cooperatives. Its first wet mill opened in 1954 and today the society supports thousands of smallholders across the Aberdare foothills. Farms sit around 1,600–1,700 metres, where slower cherry maturation concentrates sugars and acids for the region’s hallmark citrus-forward profile.
Quality control is exacting: ripe cherry is selectively handpicked, visually sorted and floated before pulping. This fully washed AA lot underwent 12–24 hours of fermentation (weather-dependent), was washed and channel-graded, then dried slowly on raised beds or in solar driers for 7–21 days with regular turning and protective covering to ensure even moisture and clarity in the cup.
Dependable, transparent and highly brewable—ideal for cafés looking for a bright, structured Kenyan on bar or batch.
