Ibonia Estate AA, Kiambu, Kenya

A classic Kenyan washed lot from a long-standing family estate in Kiambu. Ibonia spans over 100 hectares and prioritises conservation, with nearly 60% of the land kept as wild forest. At 1,700 metres, cool temperatures and fertile volcanic soils slow cherry development, building the bright acidity and layered sweetness Kenya is known for.

This AA selection is primarily SL28 and SL34. Ripe cherry is handpicked, floated and pulped, then fermented overnight before a clean-water soak and slow drying on raised beds. The soaking step helps deliver a particularly clean, high-clarity cup.

Expect a vivid, fruit-forward profile with red currant, raspberry and muscat grape, lifted by citrus brightness and delicate florals. Roasted for filter, it’s a reliable, easy-to-dial option for batch brew or hand brew where consistency and clarity matter in service.
